Local branches of the Western Counties Regional Library have the following events planned:

InYarmouth

Toastmasters

Thursday, July 16 and 30, 12:15 to 1:30 p.m.

Develop public speaking and leadership skills through the Yarmouth Chapter of Toastmasters International. The club meets at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library in Yarmouth on the first, third and fifth Thursdays of every month at 12:15 p.m. New members are welcome.

Summer Reading Club: Notepad, Binoculars and Badge

Tuesday, July 21, 3 to 4 p.m.

Make a notepad, binoculars and a badge to place in your own detective kit. This program is for children ages seven to 12. Space limited so register by July 17 by calling the branch at 902-742-5040 or e-mailing the branch yarmouth@nsy.library.ns.ca. Children must be registered for the Summer Reading Club to participate in programs.

Summer Reading Club: Footprint File

Thursday, July 23, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Find the matching footprints! This program is for children ages three to six. Space limited so please register by July 21 by calling the branch at 902-742-5040 or e-mailing the branch.

Introduction to Yoga for Teens

Thursday, July 23, 6:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Cindy Robicheau will introduce yoga to youth ages 11 to 16, speak about benefits and techniques and teach a few yoga exercises. Mats provided. Space is limited. Register by Monday, July 20, by calling the branch at 742-5040 or e-mailing yarmouth@nsy.library.ns.ca.

Summer Reading Club: Once Upon a Crime

Tuesday, July 28, 3 to 4 p.m.

Create mystery fizz out of vinegar and baking soda. This program is for children ages seven to 12. Space limited so register by July 24 by calling the branch at 902-742-5040 or e-mailing yarmouth@nsy.library.ns.ca.

Thursday, July 30, 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.

Make your own spyglass. This program is for children ages three to six. Space limited so please register by July 28 by calling the branch at 902-742-5040 or e-mailing yarmouth@nsy.library.ns.ca.

In Pubnico

Baby and Me

Wednesdays, 10 to 10:30 a.m.

Baby and Me offers stories and simple crafts for babies, toddlers and their caregivers every Wednesday from 10 to 10:30 a.m. at the Pubnico Branch Library. This is a drop-in, bilingual program and there is no pre-registration required.

Summer Reading Club: Spyglasses

Wednesday, July 22, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m.

Children ages four to 10 will be crafting the best-ever spyglasses from 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, July 22 at the Pubnico Branch Library. There is no pre-registration for this program.

Summer Book Sale

July and August during open hours

Find a new-to-you read for the summer during the Clare Branch Library Summer Book Sale in July and August during open hours at the Senator Ambroise H. Comeau Memorial Library in Meteghan.

Summer Reading Club: Mystery Puppet Show

Thursday, July 16, 6:30 p.m.

Enjoy two short puppet shows (one in French and one in English) filled with mystery and mayhem. No registration necessary in this program for children ages three to eight.

Summer Reading Club: It’s a Mystery

Tuesday, July 28, 2 p.m.

Join the team of library staff and the Clare Department of Recreation at the Clare Branch Library for a mystery starting at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28. This program is in French and is for children ages five to 12 years. Register for this program by Saturday, July 25, by calling the Department of Recreation at 769-3655 or by e-mailing leisure@municipality.clare.ns.ca.

Summer Reading Club: Agent 009 Bingo

Thursday, July 30, 6:30 p.m.

Children ages seven to 12 can join the Clare library staff for Agent 009 Bingo. Space is limited so register by Saturday, July 25, by calling the branch at 645-3350 or e-mailing clare@nsy.library.ns.ca.
