With the deadline approaching for Hall of Fame nominations, the president of the Yarmouth Town and County Sports Heritage Association envisages a progressive future for the organization.

Gil Dares says he would like to raise the profile of the association's sports museum and hopefully get more people to visit the facility.

He views renovating the building as part of that process and says he is looking for potential sources of funding to help make it happen. “We want people, when they walk through the door of that facility, to go 'wow,'” he said. “We really want people to look at it and say 'OK, I want to go in there.'”

The sports heritage association was housed in several different locations before moving to 435 Main St.

Sept. 30 is the deadline for people who would like to nominate an individual or team for the association's Hall of Fame.
