By Carla Allen THE VANGUARD NovaNewsNow.com Visitors to Sous Le Soleil (Under the Sun) on Sept. 27 can expect to see a gallery full of color, including lots of unique stained glass, clay sculpture, and abstract art of mixed media on paper and canvas by Jay LeBlanc as well as a variety of items by a few other artists.

LeBlanc will be welcoming visitors for Open Studio Day from noon to 5 p.m. as part of Craft Splash. She’ll have on hand materials and tools that she uses in the stained glass process, so people can gain an understanding of how she puts glass together.

LeBlanc says art became a form of medicine for her during a time of illness and that it continued to evolve over 16 years.

Although she works with other mediums, she loves the infinite variety of glass, and the adaptability of the copper foil technique she uses. “It accommodates my love of color and line, and my love of playing with degrees of transparency,” she said. “I love that what I do serves a purpose for people - that some people besides myself find art a necessity, and not a luxury,” she said.

Sous Le Soleil is located at 131 Cottreau Rd. in Little Brook. Turn off Hwy. 1 toward Hwy. 101. Cottreau Road is the immediate first left. 902-769-0861.
