The Yarmouth, Pubnico and Clare branches of Western Counties Regional Library will be celebrating Family Literacy Day with music, songs and readings on Wednesday, Jan. 27 and Thursday, Jan. 28.
Children up to age four can be part of the literacy celebrations at the Pubnico library and enjoy an hour of music, songs and stories from 10 to 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27. Monette Robichaud will entertain young and old with her singing and guitar playing during Singing for Literacy at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library, 405 Main St. in Yarmouth, from 6 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 27.
Robichaud will also bring her music and songs to the Senator Ambroise H. Comeau Memorial Library in Meteghan at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 28. There will be musical instruments available for participants and a snack will be served. There is no registration for any of these programs. For details visit www.westerncounties.ca.
Established in 1999 by ABC CANADA Literacy Foundation and Honda Canada, Family Literacy Day (held every Jan. 27) is an annual initiative developed to celebrate parents and children reading and learning together, and to encourage Canadians to spend at least 15 minutes enjoying a learning activity every day.
