The voting results from last night’s “unplugged” performance show will be announced tonight at 10:30.

D’Eon received mixed reviews from the Canadian Idol judges Monday evening for his performance of Every Breath You Take, the biggest hit ever for the Police, although they did give him credit for approaching the song in his own way. “I truly applaud you for your interpretation,” said judge Farley Flex. “It wasn’t quite hot enough to call the fire department, though. I thought parts of it were good, but parts were just a little cool.”

Said Sass Jordan, “It wasn’t the greatest singing you’ve ever done, but I do appreciate what you were trying to do up there and I like the fact that you changed the arrangement of it with the melody.”

Judge Jake Gold said d’Eon’s performance “was not for me,” although he acknowledged that d’Eon managed to take the signature song of the Police and put his own stamp on it. “You did find a way to make it yours,” he said.

Judge Zack Werner said he was impressed with d’Eon’s “stylistic choices” with the song and while he thought there were a “couple of bad notes,” he thought d’Eon “emotionally got into the song and I felt you, so that’s important to me.”

Idol finalists impressing the four judges the most Monday night were Brian Melo, Carly Rae Jepsen and Greg Neufeld.

Monday’s “unplugged” show featured segments showing the Idol contestants meeting Enrique Iglesias, who is slated to perform during this evening’s voting results show.

Iglesias offered words of praise and encouragement to the finalists, saying, for example, of d’Eon upon hearing him sing Every Breath You Take, “When he sang it, I forgot about the Police.”
