Unschooled in letter-writing, the fisherman tries his utmost to court by mail and after a year-and-a-half succeeds in arranging a rendezvous at which, to his surprise, the woman persuades him to live with her in Toronto. The love affair ends when he is forced to return to the life he understands.
Director John Frederick Brown adapted the original script that was set in Ireland to a Nova Scotia setting.
“The marine issues outlined in the story seemed to fit our local setting. Imagine my surprise when the author’s wife told me that her husband had originally set the play in Nova Scotia (his great-grandfather originally being from Jordon Falls, Shelburne County),” said Brown.
“Imagine again my surprise, when she stated that she had viewed the video of our production on my facebook site and stated that “She loved it” and that her husband would have been very pleased with our take on the show,” he said.
All seats are $15 for this play. For tickets call the box office at 902-742-8150
