She says they are also an outcome of her contribution to life and life's contribution to her.
Morrill is one of several artists who will be welcoming visitors during Open Studio Day on Sunday, Sept. 27 from noon to 5 p.m. as part of Craft Splash.
With close to 30 years experience as a potter, she uses local clay in glaze, slip and clay body.
“I strongly believe that one of potter's jobs is to indicate the area where she/he reside by her/his work,” she said.
Morrill is running several tests on glaze and clay body using local clay. Her work is dependent upon the clear contrast of light and shadow and the search for an overall view of atmosphere to capture its mood.
She and her late husband, Don, built and used a wood-fired kiln to create their pottery.
“ We were often called potters' potters,” said Morrill, who was born and educated in Tokyo, Japan. She has been living in Canada since 1972. Morrill’s studio is located in Church Point: turn inland on Patrice Road (sign to Concession and Corberrie), left on Boudreau Branch Road (#27) 902-769-0196.
