THURSDAY, JULY 29

Musique de la Baie Kitchen party with local musicians. Reservations recommended. 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.

Opening ceremony Club social de Clare. 7 p.m.

Opening concert Featuring : tribute to Herb LeBlanc, La Baie en Joie and the group 1755. Musicians include: Yvon Comeau, Len LeBlanc, Brian Amirault, Richard Deveau, Ted Melanson, Melvin Cottreau, Nelson LeBlanc and many others. 8 to 11 p.m. Club social de Clare, Little Brook.

Purchase concert tickets for $15 at all four branches of the Caisse populaire de Clare

(Belliveau Cove, Church Point, Saulnierville and Meteghan). Bring your chair and ID.

 

FRIDAY, JULY 30

Evening “Su’ Ambroise” Chef Brandon Broussard will prepare Cajun food. 5 p.m. Cost: $15 (includes a bowl of gumbo). Le Richelieu, Placide Comeau Road, Meteghan River.

Wine tasting evening Featuring wine from Annapolis Highland Vineyards, Grand-Pré Wines and includes desserts from the Rendez-vous de la Baie café, Fox Hill Cheeses and meat from Meadowbrook. Tickets available at the festival office, 769-0832. 8 to 11 p.m. $25 per person. Location: Rendez-vous de la Baie, Church Point.

 

SATURDAY, JULY 31

Community breakfast Pancake breakfast and local music. For info call 769-2869. $4/person. 8 a.m. to noon. Knights of Columbus hall, Comeauville.

Deep-sea fishing tournament $250/team. Call 645-2581 to register or for details. Registration at 8 a.m., departure at 9 a.m. Meteghan Wharf.

Festival hike Bring  lunch and it is advised to wear pants, not shorts. Call 645-2001 for information. Departs at 9 a.m. From Bear Cove to Cap Sainte-Marie.

 Gumbo workshop With Louisiana chef Brandon Broussard and Yvon Thériault. Meteghan Lions Club hall, 1 p.m. To register, contact the festival office (769-0832).

Dance with ‘57 Chevy The awards for the fishing tournament will be presented before the music begins. 2 p.m. Seashore Restaurant & Blue Rock Lounge, Meteghan.

Fais dodo en Acadie Featuring: The Lost Bayou Ramblers, Tee Mamou Cajun Band and Cadiens. Louisiana chef Brandon Broussard will be there to prepare Cajun food and give Cajun dance lessons. 8 p.m. Club social de Clare, Little Brook.

Lumberjack competitions Several competition categories. 10 a.m.

Inflatable games with glow parties 11 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Lioness bingo Noon to 4 p.m.

Concert With local musicians, 2:30 p.m.

Festival parade 1:30 p.m. (Road closes at 12:30 p.m.) From Club social de Clare to Université Sainte-Anne.

 

MONDAY, AUG. 2

Day at the beach Sand sculpture competition. To register call 769-0832. 10 a.m. Mavillette Beach.

« Poker Walk » in the « Petit Bois » Walk behind Saint Mary’s Church on forest path leading to the sea. Fundraiser for Saint Mary’s parish. Call 769-2947 for info. $5 per participant or walk for free through sponsors. Registration at 5:30 p.m., walk begins at 6.

Chantensemble concert Concert of Acadian, traditional and contempory songs. For info call 769-3244. 7:30 p.m. Parish hall, Saulnierville $10 for adults, $6 for students.

Lobster supper presented by Clare Chamber of Commerce Tickets sold in advance until Aug. 2, call 769-5312 to reserve your seat. Admission: $25 for members, $29 for non members. Cocktails at 6 p.m., supper served at 6:30 p.m. Clare Golf and Country Club, Comeauville.

Acadian house tour Visit a home of yesterday, taste family recipes and listen to local stories and folklore.  $10/person.

Departs at 6:30 p.m. from Rendez-vous de la Baie, Church Point.

Evening of stories Listen to stories about the Lafourche and Terrebonne parishes in Louisiana. 7 to 8:30 p.m. Rendez-vous de la Baie, Church Point.

Children's parade 1:30 p.m. From the Stella-Maris Church, Meteghan to Villa acadienne, Meteghan.

Wednesday night social Nine holes of fun golf (scramble format) followed by a light lunch. Clare Golf & Country Club. $9/members or $18/non-members. Registration at 5:30 p.m., starts at 6.

THURSDAY, AUG. 5

Customer appreciation day at Canada Post Hotdogs and sweets for profits to the Atelier de Clare. Call 769-2245 for details. 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Canada Post Office, Church Point.

Lobster and clam supper Steamed lobster or clams. Live local music. 6 to 8 p.m. Joseph et Marie Dugas Park, Belliveau Cove. $12 for lobster, $10 for clams.

Trésors de la Baie contest Caisse populaire de Clare is giving the chance to win gift certificates valued at $300, $200 or $100 which can be spent at participating artist galleries. President’s Night Featuring: Pascal Lejeune. 8 p.m. Tickets $12 (sold at Caisse populaire de Clare or at the door.) Marc Lescarbot Theatre, Université Sainte-Anne.

SUNDAY, AUG. 8

Rock le bot (start of weeklong music event for youth) A rock music camp for young musicians. Contact: Sébastien Dol -sebastien.dol@usainteanne.ca. Aug. 8-13. Cost: $230 Université Sainte-Anne.

Saulnierville picnic Scallops, barbecued chicken, râpure and sweets. Picnic includes games. 11 a.m. Sacred Heart Church, Saulnierville.

English mass followed by buffet Mass in English, followed by buffet dinner. 11 a.m. St-Vincent-de-Paul Church, Salmon River. Price for buffet: $8 for adults, $5 for children, free for those five and under.

Music concert with La Tralée Featuring: La Tralée from Îles de la Madeleine and the youths from Bête 4. 7:30 p.m. Saulvierville Legion. $5/per person.

Boat parade Boat benediction at 6:30 pm. Parade will begin after benediction (6:45 p.m.). Parade will begin at the Meteghan Wharf.

TUESDAY, AUG. 10

CAAE Breakfast conference Presentation by Marc Boudreau, president of the Festival acadien de acadien. 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. Each participant pays for their own breakfast. Rendez-vous de la Baie, Church Point.

Musique de la Baie Kitchen party, 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., Roadside Grill, Belliveau Cove.

Razzmatazz concert Concert with the musical group for kids, Razzmatazz! Also a barbecue and a chance to play at the playground. Supper at 4 p.m., music at 6. Family Activity Park in Meteghan.

National Acadian Day

Assumption Day flag raising Flag-raising ceremony, municipal office, Little Brook. 9:30 a.m. For more details call 769-3655.

Assumption Day mass 11 a.m. at Sainte-Marie Church, Church Point.

TINTAMARRE People are invited to show their Acadian pride by making noise, decorating their car and wearing a costume. Departure at 6 p.m. Starting points: Saint Bernard Church, Meteghan and

Salmon River fire stations. Destination: Club social de Clare.

Closing concert After the Tintamarre, around 7:15 p.m. Musicians include JP LeBlanc from New Brunswick, Lennie Gallant from Prince Edwards Island and la Baie en Joie and BeauPhare from Nova Scotia. Location: Club social de Clare, Little Brook.
