With just a couple of months to go before Nova Scotia Music Week comes roaring into town the lineup of artists for the weekend of showcases has been announced.
Music fans will again be faced with the almost unfair decision of what artists to catch during two days of showcases that will feature more than 70 acts.
As was the case last year, there will be something for every musical pallet.
Just a sampling of the acts playing during the evenings of Nov. 5 and 6 include: Alert the Medic; Andrew Hunter & The Gatherers; Yarmouth’s own heavy rockers Big Game Hunt; metro metal kings Black Moor; Broken Ohms; Carmen Townsend; fiddling sensation Colin Grant; Yarmouth’s Dwight Deon; Ghettosocks; Gypsophilia, who last year blew the roof off Haley’s Lounge with their jazz exploits; In-Flight Safety; John Campbelljohn; Laura Merrimen; Myles Deck and the Fuzz, who had the crowd at the loud stage eating out of their hands last year when front man Deck played in his underwear; electro pop genius Rich Aucoin; traditional bluesmen The Hupman Brothers; Yarmouth natives The Sleepless Nights; The Stanfield, who made the floor of the Red Knight shake during their showcase last year; The Tom Fun Orchestra; Thom Swift; and innovative hip hopers Three Sheet.
Music Nova Scotia executive director Scott Long said this year’s event features more showcases and more acts than ever before.

“We’re doing everything we can to step it up,” he said. “It’s really important for us to provide a bigger, hopefully better show.”
Wristbands for the weekend, which grant access to any and all showcases, are $24.99 and available at City Drug Store, Saulnierville Pharmacy, online at www.ticketpro.ca or by calling 1-888-311-9090. Wristbands sold out last year and are likely to be just as hot a commodity this year. Long said about half of them are gone so far.
In addition to the showcases, tickets are also available to catch Juno Award winners Wintersleep, who play a special all-ages show (with 19+ section) at the Grand Hotel at 8 p.m. on Nov. 6.
The remaining events to go on sale — the awards gala, Songs and Stories songwriters circle and delegate passes — will go on sale Sept. 7 at which time performers for those events will also be announced.
Besides all the music and awards, Nova Scotia Music Week, which runs Nov. 4-7, features seminars and conference sessions to help musicians maximize their business potential and meet music buyers and bookers from some of the biggest festivals and agencies in the world.
