Just a few “pocket outages” remain

By Carla Allen THE VANGUARD NovaNewsNow.com Restoration of power to 5,000 residents in Southwest Nova after post tropical storm Noel is ahead of schedule.

Initially, an estimated time of 11 p.m. Tuesday was provided to callers who dialed for information as to when their power would return. Some Yarmouth residents and areas from Hebron to Hectanooga were affected.

The initial restoration times are just our best estimate and we always strive to have the power back on earlier,” said NS Power spokesperson Margaret Murphy.

She said there were no new large outages since Sunday but that there were lots of small outages affecting one, or two or 10 customers. “Each of those small outages is important and each will require a specific crew,” she said. “But the Yarmouth area is much better than Sunday. It’s currently showing just under 250 customers without power,” she added.

At its peak, approximately 170,000 customers experienced power disruptions in the province because of the storm.
