Claire Amirault says Jeremiah Nickerson is a 26-year-old fisherman who lives with his parents Owen and Cora in East Pubnico.
“His mother had checked it on the Internet and he knew he had won, but he was so much in shock, he came here to validate it here for sure,” said Amirault.
“He called his girlfriend and I think he’s planning on going to Moncton real soon.”
She says the phone hasn’t stopped ringing at the store.
“Everybody knows around here.”
The store will receive one per cent of the winnings.
“I’m glad it’s somebody who needs the money,” added Amirault.
The prize is far more than others redeemed at the store, which is owned by Joe Boudreau. A $10,000 scratch ticket was lucky at the business and another woman won a car several years ago.
