Girl guides from throughout southwestern Nova Scotia gathered Thursday evening, Feb. 21, at the Yarmouth Mall to celebrate Girl Guides and Girl Scouts of Canada’s World Thinking Day.

There are 19 units in the district, which spans from Salmon River to Pubnico.

The guiding movement in Canada hosts the special day every year on Feb. 22 to celebrate.

Meadowfield’s grade one student Sarah Nasir, who is a Brownie, pointed out during the opening ceremonies that, “this year’s theme is, together we can save children’s lives and every mother’s life and health is precious.”

The evening of fun and fellowship provided an opportunity to raise money for the Canadian World Friendship Fund.
