An upbeat, light-hearted event, the most lucrative fundraiser for the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 3 at the Yarmouth Golf and Country Club.

Coordinator Adrienne Beaudette describes the Titanic: All Decked Out mock casino night as being “less about gambling and more about donating with an edge.”

“I think it’s the fundraiser that people enjoy the most,” she said.

The event is in honour of the 100th anniversary of the Titanic and the goal is for everyone to experience the excitement and opulence of a first class Titanic casino.

Doors open at 6:30 pm, and the evening will “set sail” at 7 p.m.

There will be hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar, along with a 50/50 cash raffle, silent auction and "casino money" auctions.

Tickets are $40 per person and include $10 of "play money" that can be used for the auction items. The maximum bet at the tables is $5.

Costume dress is optional but encouraged.

On Oct. 24, Claude Aubin provided lessons to a large group of enthusiastic volunteer dealers.

“How many chances do you have to deal blackjack in your life,” laughed Beaudette after introducing him to the group.

Because of the popularity of the event last year, playing hours have been extended.

As a fundraising event, all proceeds for the evening will go towards the Yarmouth County Museum and Archives.
