Culture day at YCMHS celebrates diversity

International students at Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School shared some of their cultural traditions on Friday, Nov. 30 during a Culture Day program. The all-day event included 40 international students from more than a dozen countries. They donned traditional clothing and shared the food and crafts of their culture. The students are studying under the Nova Scotia International Students Program. Some will call Yarmouth home for a couple of years. Others were preparing to bid farewell to their new friends, returning home after a three-month stay.

The international students program has been operating in the province for nearly 15 years. From its modest beginnings the program had grown to accommodate 800 students across the province by last year.
