Wintersleep leads the way among nominees for this year’s East Coast Music Awards with six nominations.

The band, whose members include Yarmouth natives Paul Murphy and Tim D’Eon, is up for album of the year, fan’s choice entertainer of the year, fan’s choice video of the year, group recording of the year, rock recording of the year and songwriter of the year.

The ECMA event will be held in Halifax March 6-10.

The East Cost Music Association announced this year’s nominees Jan. 15.

“Today’s announcements clearly demonstrate the incredible talent in this region,” said Heather Gibson, chair of the ECMA board. “We are proud to celebrate the hard work and dedication of our Atlantic Canadian artists and look forward to recognizing them in March during EastLink East Coast Music Week.”

Besides Wintersleep, other acts with multiple award nominations include Matt Mays, who has five, and Rose Cousins, Radio Radio, Rich Aucoin and Tim Chaisson, who each have four.

In the category of album of the year, Wintersleep has been nominated for Hello Hum (producers: Tony Doogan and Dave Fridmann). The other nominees are Gypsophilia, Jenn Grant, Matt Mays and Radio Radio.

In the category of fan’s choice entertainer of the year, Wintersleep is up against Dave Gunning, David Myles, George Canyon, Gypsophilia, Joel Plaskett, Rich Aucoin, The Once, The Stanfields, The Trews and Tim Chaisson.

In the category of fan’s choice video of the year, Wintersleep has been nominated for In Came The Flood (director: Sean Wainsteim). Other nominees are David Myles, George Canyon, Gloryhound, Matt Mays, Radio Radio, Rich Aucoin, The Divorcees, The Once and Tim Chaisson.

For group recording of the year, Wintersleep has been nominated for Hello Hum. Other nominees in this category are Madison Violet, Paper Lions, The Dardanelles and The Stanfields.

Wintersleep is also up for rock recording of the year for Hello Hum. The other nominees for this award are Joel Plaskett, Long Distance Runners, Matt Mays and The Stanfields.

In the category of songwriter of the year, Wintersleep has been nominated for In Came The Flood (composer: Paul Murphy, Tim D’Eon, Loel Campbell). The other nominees in this category are Bruce Guthro, Christina Martin, Matt Mays and Rose Cousins.
