The gardening forum will be held at the Yarmouth Wesleyan Church on Saturday, Feb. 14 from 1 – 4 p.m.
Rose has contacted several dozen experienced gardeners to help answer questions during the informal roundtable discussions.
“Every one of us has had our successes and our failures and by sharing those we don’t have to reinvent the wheel,” said Rose.
The reason most people don’t grow their own vegetables, he says, is because of a perceived lack of time and that it’s so much easier to go to a supermarket. However, with food safety and security becoming an increasingly important issue, it’s time for people to take another look at growing their own produce.
Rose believes that by growing their own vegetables, people will reap additional benefits in stress reduction.
“Quite frankly I enjoy a quiet evening out there, thinning carrots, listening to the ocean. People have got away from that. I see the last generation with something stuck in their ears all the time. They don’t hear the ocean, they don’t hear the birds. I think they’re missing out a lot,” he said.
There is no charge for this event. To register call Rose at 902-742-3111.
