Was it Miss Scarlet in the library with the candlestick?
If you can solve this caper and are a budding Nancy Drew, Frank Hardy, Miss Marple or Sherlock Holmes, then Western Counties Regional Library’s 2009 Summer Reading Club is a mystery worth solving.
Running June 22 to Aug. 22, the Summer Reading Club with its Mystery theme offers fun, prizes and programs for children, teens and adults.
The Children’s Summer Reading Club is for children up to the Grade 6 level. Young readers can choose from reading goals of 10, 20 or 30 hours over the summer months. When participants reach their goal, they receive a FastPass to Upper Clements Park and a chance to win great prizes including a grand prize of a bicycle in Digby and Shelburne counties, or a Blueman Group keyboard and Superman laptop in Yarmouth County.
The Teen Summer Reading club is open to youth from the Grade 6 to Grade 12 level. FastPasses will be given out beginning on Aug. 1 for those who have completed 25 hours of reading. Participants who complete their reading goal will have their name entered into a draw for an Apple iPod or two $50 certificates for school supplies from Staples Yarmouth.
The potential rewards for adults reading for 25 hours over the summer include a grand prize draw of brunch for two and golf for two at the Digby Pines Golf Resort and Spa, draws for books from Coles, a lobster dinner for two, gift certificates to area restaurants, movie passes and other fun prizes.
