By Carla Allen THE VANGUARD NovaNewsNow.com Developers of a new website promoting the Yarmouth and Acadian Shores region will be tracking visits to the site and using the results to help develop marketing materials in the future.

Surfer data, including origin, geographic location, time on site, etc will be tracked to www.yarmouthandacadianshores.com through an analytic tool.

The site, which cost approximately $24,000 (plus translation services) to develop is funded in equal parts by the Town of Yarmouth, Municipality of Yarmouth, Municipality of Argyle, Municipality of Clare and Yarmouth Room Levy Group. “This is a very successful local partnership, and was an excellent way of spreading out the cost of development, so that we were able to purchase something together that we would have never reached on our own,” said the South West Shore Development Authority’s tourism development officer, Julie Grandy.

The site took approximately eight months for Verb Interactive, a Halifax-based company that specializes in tourism websites throughout North America, to develop.

The site will be promoted through search engine optimization, links strategy, address inclusion in all marketing material, partnerships with the CAT, and an aggressive strategy to bring people to the site. “We also want them to keep coming back to the site, so we have a travel club they can sign up for (from which they will receive regular emails promoting Yarmouth & Acadian Shores), as well as a page promoting travel deals,” said Grandy. “ Local operators will be able to submit deals, change as needed, and people will be able to return regularly to see what’s new. I anticipate that I will spend about one day per week promoting the site and doing general upkeep to drive traffic to it,” she said.
