Destination Southwest Nova Association
(DSWNA), in partnership with the Department
of Tourism, Culture & Heritage has awarded
festivals and events funding assistance
cheques to several festival and event organizers
and communities at various visitor information
centres in the region.
The regional tourism association,
representing the Fundy Shore & Annapolis
Valley, Yarmouth & Acadian Shores and South Shore, works with the Department to
provide festivals and events assistance funding to those organizations that are able to
impact on incremental visitation and spending to the province. The program is designed
to provide cooperative support, through partnership, to a maximum of 50 per cent of the costs
associated with the direct-to-consumer marketing initiatives that are strategically in line
with both the festivals’/events’ mandate as well as the province’s objectives.
Destination Southwest Nova Association general manager, Madonna Spinazola,
says that “the festival and event organizers seemed
very pleased with the support of their regional tourism association and values the
commitment of DSWNA to the tourism industry in the region.” Spinazola goes on to
say that “it is through these partnerships with industry, communities and government that
tourism in the Fundy Shore & Annapolis Valley, Yarmouth & Acadian Shores and South
Shore will be strengthened.”
Festivals and events that received funding for 2009-2010 in the Yarmouth & Acadian
