Town awards contract for downtown study
Yarmouth town council has awarded the tender for its downtown revitalization plan.
Ekistics Planning and Design, a Halifax-based firm, won the contract to perform the study. The project, which is expected to cost about $45,000 and be completed by October, was aided by news that the town received $30,000 from ACOA to go towards the cost of the study.
Mayor Phil Mooney said the company was the unanimous choice of the steering committee overseeing the project. The mayor had high praise for the company’s earlier work in areas such as New Glasgow and Truro.
The study will include public consultation meetings with the general public as well as downtown stakeholders. The plan, said Mooney, is for the study to encompass Main Street from Argyle Street to Vancouver Street.
