Scheduled to arrive at 1:15 p.m. (Yarmouth time), the plane was a few minutes early as it touched down on a windy and overcast day.
The plane arrived with just one passenger, but there were said to be few more who would take the plane back to Portland later that afternoon.
Initially at least, the plan is to have four flights per week – Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday – with an 11 a.m. departure from Portland, a 1:15 p.m. arrival in Yarmouth (all times local), then a 4 p.m. departure from Yarmouth and 4:20 p.m. arrival in Portland.
The airline has indicated that it is flexible and will respond to customer demand.
The Auburn, Maine-based airline uses a twin-engine, seven-passenger Cessna 402A aircraft, officials saying this plane is well suited for the Yarmouth-Portland route and hopefully will ensure the success of the service.
Yarmouth had been without a regularly scheduled air service since Starlink Aviation ceased serving the area late last year.
