The Meteghan RCMP issued a public safety warning on April 1 but this was no joke. The safety warning was related to stolen veterinary drugs. The drugs were taken from Clare Animal Hospital during a recent break and enter.
On March 29 the RCMP received a complaint of a break and enter at the Clare Animal Hospital. The complainant explained that the break in occurred sometime over the weekend of March 26-28. The items taken were various drugs that are normally used for veterinary purposes.
After an inventory of the drugs stolen was completed by staff later in the week, two bottles of Euthanyl Forte and Euthansol were confirmed stolen. These drugs are used to put down (euthanize) animals and if taken in any quantity they pose a risk to humans. After subsequent follow-up with Poison Control, Meteghan RCMP were told the stolen drugs can be lethal.
