The company sells and leases the planes.
David Rankin, executive director of the Yarmouth International Airport, says the Yarmouth Airport Commission is looking at several options for reestablishing air service between Yarmouth and Halifax, including operating the service itself.
“That’s one of the options that are before us.
Another option is to contract it out to a local operator,” he said.
Rankin says it would be two to four months before anything concrete would result.
The commission is also talking to representatives of Cessna Caravan.
“Those are the two that we’ve mostly focused on at this moment,” he said.
The Pilatus PC12 is used by the RCMP, the Australian Flying Doctor service and the United States Air Force for special operations.
More than 780 PC-12s have been sold as of June 2008.
Up to nine passengers can be carried in standard configuration; a quick conversion creates six to eight executive seats. Cruising speed is 500 km/hour.
