July programs set at library’s Gates lab

The Gates Computer Lab at the Izaak Walton Killam Memorial Library in Yarmouth is offering a series of introductory programs in July:

 

GPS Treasure Hunt

Wednesday, July 14, 2 to 4 p.m.

This two-hour session is for youth ages eight to 14. The program introduces participants to the Global Positioning System handheld systems and provides an opportunity to participate in a treasure hunt, geocaching style.

Introduction to Microsoft Word

Tuesday, July 20, 6 to 8 p.m.

This is an introductory course to Microsoft Word. Learn the basics of word processing. Topics will include formatting text, adding borders, inserting pictures and clipart, and more.

 

Introduction to Microsoft Excel

Wednesday, July 21, 6 to 8 p.m.

This is an introductory course in Microsoft Excel. Learn the basics of spreadsheets. Topics will include navigation, formatting, basic formulas and more.

 

GPS Photo Hunt

Wednesday, July 28, 2 to 4 p.m.

This two-hour session is for youth ages eight to 14. The program introduces them to the Global Positioning System handheld systems and provides an opportunity to participate in a photo scavenger hunt using GPS coordinates to find your shots.

Participants are asked to register by calling call 742-2486 option 2 or visit the Gates Calendar at www.westerncounties.ca . All programs are free.
