A motorcyclist died Thursday evening, June 21, after colliding with a deer on Forest Street near the location of the new Yarmouth high school and Our Lady of Calvary cemetery.

The RCMP received a 911 call at 9:32 p.m. regarding a motor vehicle collision at the eastern end of Forest Street involving a motorcycle and a deer. Police and EHS attended the scene.

Paramedics performed CPR on the man upon arriving and he was transported to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced deceased.

The deer was killed upon impact with the motorcycle. The street was closed for several hours while the investigation was being conducted. At the request of the family, the RCMP are withholding the name of the deceased.
