Vernon P's 730-pound tuna wins the tournament

Fishermen aboard the Vernon P. have the bragging rights for the largest tuna, a 730-pounder landed during the Wedgeport Tuna Tournament.

Those aboard the Richard J ll landed the second biggest tuna at 603-pounds.

The highest total weight (albacore and bluefin) went to the Rebecca Lynn at 1,690-pounds.

5,203-pounds of bluefin tuna were caught during this year's tournament.

Organizers did a brisk business selling fresh-caught albacore during the event.

Fourteen boats registered for the tournament this year and all caught a bluefin tuna.
