WEDGEPORT: Because of the success of the first ‘‘Lest We Forget Lotto 300’’, which concludes in March it  will be repeated a second year. Tickets are on sale now.

‘‘We appreciate the support we have received for the first lotto. We are confident to have the continued public’s support in the lotto a second year for our Legion branch’’ said Gerald MacKenzie, president of the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 155 Wedgeport.

The Wedgeport Legion includes many members from surrounding area communities.

Fund raising activities have become essential to the Branch’s 155 survival as is the case with other branches of the Legion in Canada.

‘‘In the past year we have financially turned things around by means of fund raising activities such as the lotto and recruiting new members. However fund raising activities have to be continued’’ stated Mackenzie.

The lotto is a twice monthly draw for 12 months. A maximum of 300 fifty dollar tickets were issued. A total of $6,000 will be awarded in 24 first prizes of $150 and 24 second prizes of $100. Winning tickets are returned to the drum for the remaining draws.

The draws are held at the weekly Monday evening bingo by the Legion’s events committee.

Tickets can be purchased at the Legion’s basement hall, 24 Corporon Road, which is open Tuesday to Thursday, 3 to 8 pm, Friday and Saturday 3 to 12 p.m. Tickets can be delivered locally by a Legion member. Call the Legion at 902-663-2658 during the above hours.
