The RCMP's Yarmouth/Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit has made its first seizure as a unit.

On March 27 the unit, assisted by Yarmouth Rural RCMP members and the RCMP police dog service, executed a controlled drugs and substances warrant at a residence in Chegoggin, Yarmouth County.

As a result of the search police say a large quantity of marijuana and drug paraphernalia was seized and three Yarmouth County men were arrested at the scene. All three have been released from police custody and charges for the purpose of trafficking in marijuana are pending against one of the men (the owner of the residence).

The unit was formed earlier this month and is funded by the provincial government as part of their safer community initiative.

Police did not release the name of the person facing the charge. The announcement of the unit's first seizure came on Sunday, March 29.
