The RCMP say a 24-year-old male from Yarmouth County had to be transported to the QEII in Halifax after being the victim of an aggravated assault in the early morning hours of June 7.

The RCMP say the man was assaulted by another male who left the scene. The assault occurred around 3 a.m. in front of the Rodd Grand Hotel. The victim was unconscious for a period of time. He was transported by ambulance to the Yarmouth Regional Hospital but due to the severity of his head injuries he was sent to hospital in Halifax. He has since been released from hospital.

The RCMP have laid criminal charges including aggravated assault against 19-year-old Dorian Ross Baker of Yarmouth County. Baker was arrested without incident late Thursday evening, June 11, in Yarmouth. He was kept in police custody following his arrest and appeared in court on Friday, June 12. He was remanded in custody until his next court appearance on Monday, June 15. The police say the victim was known by Baker .
