The RCMP say charges of possession for the purpose of trafficking in marijuana and cultivating marijuana are pending after a search of a residence on the Acadia First Nation reservation resulted in the seizure of a quantity of marijuana and what the police are calling an indoor marijuana grow operation.
On Saturday, Feb. 20, RCMP members from the Yarmouth-Clare Street Crime Enforcement Unit and the Yarmouth town and rural detachments executed a Controlled Drugs and Substances Act search warrant.
In a news release, the police claim their search resulted in the discovery of a quantity of marijuana plants at various stages. A male suspect was arrested, but later released from custody. He is due to appear in provincial court in Yarmouth at a later date.
Meanwhile, on Sunday, Feb. 21 RCMP officers from the same unit and the same RCMP detachments executed another search warrant at a residence in the town of Yarmouth. That search resulted in the seizure of a quantity of crack cocaine and marijuana. Four individuals were arrested at the scene and were taken into custody.
An RCMP investigation of possession for the purpose of trafficking on crack cocaine is continuing.
Because no formal charges have been filed with the court in either of these cases, no names have been released.
