Someone has been making a lot of trips to the hair salon lately, but they aren’t looking for a new hairdo.

The RCMP are investigating a break, enter and theft that occurred at a hair salon in Yarmouth on March 3. The break-in is the latest to target a hair salon in town.

According to the RCMP, there have been five such break-ins over the past three months.

A quantity of cash was stolen in the latest break-in. In all of the break-ins the RCMP say the suspects appear to have been looking for cash.

There has been forced entry into the establishments, but not a lot of damage done.

The town detachment of the RCMP is reminding business to take appropriate security precautions and to avoid leaving large sums of money in their stores during non-business hours.

Corporal Paul Pittman says appropriate security precautions can mean installing an alarm, but it also means making sure doors and windows are locked and keeping your business is well lit, especially in the back of the business, which may be an area that criminals might target to gain entrance.

Meanwhile, Cpl. Pittman said March 4 the RCMP don’t know why hair salons are being targeted.
