The Yarmouth Red Knights won their second game of the National Over-35 baseball championships, topping Regina 9-7 in Burnaby, B.C. to rebound from a tournament-opening loss.

The Pleasant Valley Lakers, meanwhile, the defending 50+ champs, lost their opener 8-2.

The Red Knights, the defending over 35 champs, were down 3-0 until George Fry's bases loaded double tied the score.

The game then went back and forth until the sixth inning with two outs when Russ Grant singled, Luke Smith singled and Frank Grant doubled in Russ Grant.  After Paul Jacquard was intentionally walked to put Malcolm Muise up with the bases loaded, Muise drove in two runs with a clutch single.

Regina rallied in the seventh, adding a run, but Yarmouth turned a double play to end the threat.

Yarmouth will try to keep the momentum going when they play Tri City at 6 p.m. The Lakers play the Comox Valley Cubs at 3:30 p.m. and then 11 p.m. against the PoCo Colts. All times are atlantic standard time.
