YCMHS boys win regionals, off to provincials

The host Yarmouth Consolidated Memorial High School Vikings posted a come-from-behind victory over Middleton in the title game of this past weekend’s western region division 2 boys basketball championships.

Trailing by as many as 20 points or so, the Vikings emerged with a 91-87 win to capture the western regional title.

Desi Sisco had 26 points for Yarmouth, with teammates Sam Durling contributing 23, Luke Nickerson 21 and Kory Goudey 16.

Adam MacNeil had 48 points for Middleton.

Yarmouth had advanced to Saturday afternoon’s Feb. 19 championship game by defeating Central Kings 80-59 the previous day.

In Saturday’s consolation game – played prior to the title contest between Yarmouth and Middleton – Central Kings defeated Bridgewater 79-74.

Yarmouth advances to the provincial division 2 championships, which will be held March 3, 4 and 5  in Cape Breton.

Middleton and Central Kings also move on to the provincials.

Prior to the provincials, however, the Vikings are slated to play in the Mainland Athletic Conference championships at Horton the Feb. 25-26 weekend.
