The Southwest Surge under-15 team competed in and won the South Shore Heat Under-16 Tournament played in Lunenburg March 5 and 6.
The Yarmouth-based team finished second in the pool behind Bridgewater, and crossed over to play against Par-en-bas Eclipse in the semi-finals. Eclipse and Surge each split a game, with Surge winning the third game 15-13.
The Yarmouth team faced Bridgewater in the finals, who they had already lost to during pool play. In the finals Surge won it’s two 25-21 and 27-25.
Overall, 10 teams competed in the tournament.
Southwest Surge is a competitive girls volleyball club that was started three years ago. This year the club has two 14U teams and a 15U team. It also offers a development night for girls and boys in grades 4-6.
Southwest Surge team members at the tournament included: Regan Trask, Brittany Mercier, Sarah Olsen, Julia Cottreau, Allie Berry, Ashley Mooney, Allyson Macdougal, Gabrielle Hurlburt, Nicola Hines, Kristin Saulnier, Monique Mckinlay, Kaitlyn Muise and Morgan Walker.
