It is a certainty that a Canadian team will play for the gold medal at the World Junior A Challenge in Yarmouth on Sunday evening.
But what will be decided Friday night is which Canadian team it will be.
After shutting out the Czech Republic 4-0 in the second quarter-final game at the Mariners Centre on Thursday, Canada East advances to the semi-finals where they will meet Canada West, who got a bye to the semi-final game after going 2-0 in the preliminary round.
Whichever Canadian team emerges victorious from the semi-final game will face the victor of a USA-Switzerland semi-final game being played at 4 p.m. on Friday. The puck will drop on the Canada West-Canada East game at 7:30 p.m.
While the winners of these semi-finals playing for gold on Sunday evening, the defeated teams will play for bronze on Saturday evening.
