Two more restaurants are entering the Burger Wars battle last minute.
Myrtle and Rosie’s Café in Bear River and Sydney Street Pub in Digby are now competing in the friendly competition between restaurants from Windsor to Digby.
Both restaurants will be taking a unique approach of entering a top-selling burger already on their menus.
“You can try and create a new creative burger, but we already have an awesome burger,” said Saskia Geerts, Co-Owner of Sydney Street Pub in Digby.
Sydney Street Pub is serving the Sydney Street Burger, A burger with Windy View Farm raised meat, topped with bacon, Swiss cheese, pickles, lettuce, tomato and jalapeno mayonnaise.
“Our business is still pretty new, so this is a great way for us to gain some recognition.”
Sydney Street Pub is looking forward to the busy month of April and supporting Campaign for Kids.
“We’re always looking for ways to give back to the community and this is definitely a great way to start.”
$1.00 from every burger sold is donated to Campaign for Kids.
The campaign helps support kids in King’s County financially, with costs such as medical and transportation needs.
Roof Hound Brewing Company was the first Digby County restaurant to enter the competition.
Myrtle and Rosie’s Café in Bear River is serving their local favorite burger The Cowboy.
It’s a half-pound Grade A beef smothered in cheese. Topped with two slices of bacon, layered with crispy onion rings. With a freshly grilled Telera bun loaded with chilli sauce.
“If you can sell a burger and help out some kids at the same time, I think it’s a win-win for everyone,” said co-owner Michelle Milbury.
The café wasn’t sure if they could enter the competition because of their location, but once they noticed Digby County restaurants were entering, they jumped at the chance to support the cause.
April is usually a quiet month at Myrtle and Rosie’s because tourist season hasn’t started up yet, Milbury said.
“I don’t really know what to expect this month but I’m sure we’ll be able to handle it.”
