Bay Ferries has announced that the Tuesday, Aug. 8 afternoon crossing from Portland to Yarmouth and the Thursday, Aug. 10 morning crossing from Yarmouth to Portland have been cancelled. The Cat doesn’t sail on Wednesdays during August.

This is the second week in a row that crossings have had to be cancelled.

Last week three crossings were cancelled due a defected cylinder that had to be repaired on the starboard inner main engine after an abnormality with the engine was detected on July 31. On its website Bar Ferries says the cancelled crossings are due to the “completion of follow-up work to one of the main engines on The Cat.”

The Cat has been operated on just three of four engines since an issue with its starboard outer main engine on June 28. That issue also led to a modification of its sailing schedule as The Cat ferry travels at a reduced speed, increasing the crossing times by an hour.

Bay Ferries is apologizing for the latest inconvenience to passengers and is telling passengers for assistance in amending their reservation to call 1-888-868-9728.

For additional schedule details people can also go online at www.ferries.ca/thecat/schedule or cotact the reservation center at 1-877-762-7245.
