A new massage therapy centre named At Ease Wellness Studio, has opened. Its owner is massage therapist Samantha Theriault.
The new centre is located at 310 Highway 303, where the grand opening was held July 4. At 28 years old, Theriault never imagined she’d open her own business at such a young age.
“I finally feel settled where I’m at right now. It doesn’t mean it’s not scary, but it does mean it feels right.
Discovering her passion
After pursuing tourism management in school, Theriault realized she needed to reassess.
After realizing she wanted a quieter work environment, she took a career test to see what her options might be.
After realizing her passion for taking care of people was not just something she enjoyed doing, she thought a little harder about pursuing something relating to its field.
She then remembered a memory, and everything clicked.
“It might sound silly, but I used to do massage trains with my friends when I was young and had so much fun doing it,” she said.
“When that thought came to mind I called my mom and said, ‘Mom, I think I’ve got to pursue massage.’ She supported me right away.”
Something to be proud of
Theriault’s mother, Barbara Brinston, lives in St. John’s, NL and flew to Nova Scotia for the opening.
“I’m so proud of her. She’s doing to do so well at this,” she said.
“I’ve never doubted for a second that this is what she was meant for.”
Theriault said her mother’s support, along with her family that help her paint and set up her studio space, has meant the world to her.
While admitting the prospect of business financials is scary, Theriault is ready for the challenge.
“I really do believe everything has fallen into place. Even though I’m starting a new journey here, I feel settled,” she said.
“This is what I’m going to be for the rest of my life. I’m home.”
