Celebrate the arrival of 2018 at a New Year’s Levee in Digby County

Town of Digby: Annual Levee held from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers, located at 147 First Ave. Special this year, at 1:30 p.m. Greg Turner from Digby and Area Tourism will be presenting a short video that was created around the years tourism events and offer a brief outline of where the funding came from and how the video was created. Usually town councillors and many of the town staff are present for a social time with treats and punch to savour. All are welcome.

Municipality of Digby: Annual Levee held from 2 to 4 p.m. in the Council Chambers inside the Municipal Offices, located at 12548 Hwy. 217, Seabrook. Organizing Committee Chair, Linda Gregory, said this year they welcome back the music of Terry Farnsworth, along with offering hot cider, punch and goodies to munch on. Gregory said her committees decorations are always beautiful and that its always a good time for friendship and families to share – all are welcome to stop by.

Digby - Royal Canadian Legion Branch 20: The fourth consecutive New Years Levee will be held at the Digby Legion, located at 92 Mount St., from 1 p.m. until whenever. Current Branch Vice President, Donna Flaherty, who returns as president in the New Year, said their levee offers rappure pie, munchies, chips, free Moose Milk and a bar that is open for service. She said the annual gathering has become a regular spot for local musicians to come in and jam together. Its usually a good old kitchen party, Flaherty said, and its always a great time. All are invited to join the festivities and to play or sing. The Legion in Digby is also hosting a New Years Eve Party, Sunday, Dec. 31 starting at 8 p.m. and featuring spotlight dances, a midnight buffet and D.J. Sasha Melanson. Tickets are still available - $20 in advance at the Legion or $25 at the door.

Freeport - Royal Canadian Legion Branch 92: The annual levee at the Legion in Freeport starts at 1 p.m. and goes until it ends. Entertainment Manager Katherine Feiel said the event offers a beautiful spread of food, with meats and cheeses and community members bringing in special dishes to create a beautiful buffet, and the bar is open for service. While they dont usually have live music, Feiel said the its always a lovely gathering for social time, drinks and lots of great food – and the Moose Milk is free.
