The event will run from 4-7:30 p.m. at the South Ohio Community Centre.
There will be rappie pie and seafood chowder to purchase – eat in or take out. Tickets will be sold on three lots of lobsters: 50, 30 and 15 pounds. There will also be a silent auction, bake auction and bake table.
Some of the silent auction items will include themed gift baskets, a large variety of gift cards, a cord of hardwood split and delivered, kayak tours at Ellenwood and much more.
Brown was no stranger to cancer, having lost loved ones to cancer, including former husbands. Her husband John also had cancer and was just getting back on his feet, says family friend Sandra Phinney, when Helena was diagnosed with cancer and had to stop working because of chemo and radiation treatments.
“It just seems so unfair,” says Phinney. “Of course the family is going what it can to help, but there are limits.”
Brown’s family and friends are hoping for a good turnout for the fundraiser, which has been getting good community support in terms of donated items.
