By Carla Allen THE VANGUARD The theme for this year’s Christmas parade ‘The Wonder of Christmas’ could result in a wide variety of entries.

“It leaves it totally wide open for anything,” said parade coordinator Barb Firth.

The Saturday, Nov. 24 event will be taking place at 6 p.m.

Participants will begin lining up at 4:30 p.m. at the corner of Argyle and Main Streets and proceed at 6 p.m. down Main Street to Starrs Road then up to the Paper Trail parking lot.

Awards will be provided in at least half a dozen categories: best decorated pulling vehicle, most creative theme entry, best presentation of colour, mayor’s award for most spectacular entry, and the people’s choice award. This year an award for the ‘brightest entry’ has been resurrected. “It encourages people to use as many lights as possible,” said Firth.

Participants are reminded that no entry can be higher than 14-feet due to cable lines and that non-decorated entries will be refused entry into the parade. All vehicles (except antiques) must be at least 30 per cent covered with decorations.

Parade applications are available at the PlayYarmouth office in Lovitt Plaza (742-2082).

The rain date for the parade is the following day, Sunday.
