Businesses, attractions in various categories honoured during annual event

After a month-long voting period, where the public voted for their favorite tourism operators, the Yarmouth & Acadian Shores Tourism Association handed out the hardware in 31 categories, celebrating over 40 local businesses.

“This initiative and event is about celebrating local business and the success of our tourism industry,” said Neil MacKenzie, general manager of YASTA.

The event saw many tourism operators, government officials and others gather for a chance to celebrate and network. Local musicians Alyssa & Alexa provided entertainment for the evening and the Shanty Café provided a sampling of their foods. Julian d’Entremont, a Yarmouth-area native and contestant on CBC’s The Great Canadian Baking Show, also attended, providing food samples and discussing his experience on the show.

The presenting sponsor for the awards was Murray GM, which hosted the event. Other sponsors were Bay Ferries Ltd, the Tri-County Vanguard and Y-95 CJLS Yarmouth.
