Artist Tootsie Emin has a deep appreciation of living so close to the sea. The theme is represented in her October exhibit at Th’YARC lobby gallery on Parade Street.
She says something is always happening outdoors. A leaf floating on the water or even a feather falling from the sky gives one the feeling of land and sea “intertwining.”
She enjoys walking the Hartlin Trail on Water Street in the different seasons.
“There are so many wildflowers, from lupins to cattails,” she said.
She refers to the feathers from gulls as “sea angel wings.”
Emin began painting in 1989 to bring her appreciation for oil, acrylic and watercolour to life on canvas. She paints from her home studio-gallery, where her work may be viewed by chance or by appointment. For the past year-and-a-half she has also been hosting painting parties at the Rodd Grand Hotel.
Th’YARC lobby gallery is open Tuesday- Friday 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Mondays by chance. All works are available for purchase.
