DIGBY, NS - West Nova MP Colin Fraser has many positive things to say about the federal government’s 2017 budget.

In his statement, Fraser said he’s pleased with the federal government’s continuing investments in local infrastructure projects which involve both provincial and municipal partners.

“Budget 2017 is very good news for our region,” he said.

Fraser also said these infrastructure projects inspire innovation and create jobs for Atlantic Canada, referencing the recent success of Nova Scotia’s seafood industry, which has sought to capitalize on the Canada-European Union Comprehensive Trade Agreement (CETA) and other growing markets in Asia as part of the Atlantic Growth Strategy.

Fraser also expressed support for continued investment in health care, citing the province’s agreement with the federal government that promised $300 million over the next 10 years for mental health and home care services.

He added additional investments into child care spaces, affordable housing and increased flexibility for employment insurance are also on the docket for the 2017 Budget.

The budget has received positive reviews from nearly everyone in the Atlantic region.
