Elizabeth Lore is one of several artists who will showcase their work at the exhibition from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. August 4 and 5, upstairs at the Sandy Cove Fire Hall.
The exhibition idea came from Lewis Walker, who was looking for a way to feature his wife Marilyn’s art locally.
When others mentioned their interest, the group formed and created the exhibition idea.
“This is something that means a lot for us, because people really aren’t aware of the quality of art that can be found along the Digby Neck,” says Lore.
“This is our opportunity to show them just that.”
Admission to the exhibit is free. While the event will sell paintings and art pieces on display, it’s also intended to bring the community together.
“We’re really excited this has taken off the way it did,” says Lewis Walker.
Ten per cent of proceeds will go back to the fire hall as a thank you to the community.
It’s name comes the two bays – the Bay of Fundy and St. Mary’s Bay – that border the Digby Neck on either side.
“The narrowness makes it hard for people to see each other often because communities are spread thin,” says Lore.
That doesn’t just go for other residents, but also the artists themselves.
“I don’t think even we knew the volume of artists here and their respective mediums,” says Lore.
The exhibition is also meant to celebrate the beautiful landscape and scenery of the area, which inspires people and art alike.
“It’s true that artists feel their surroundings into their art. That’s what we’re going to put on display at this exhibition,” says Lore.
