Lobster cars launched on high tides at Yarmouth Bar

YARMOUTH - There's a flurry of activity at wharves in the region as Dumping Day for LFA 33/34 fishermen draws closer. The season begins Monday, Nov. 28.

One of those activities is the hauling of lobster cars from shore to open water, where they will be secured in place for the storage of live lobsters. These floating rafts sometimes include a small building that provides shelter for those sorting the lobsters.

On Nov. 16, the highest tide of the year, measuring five metres, occurred around noontime in Yarmouth. Some fishermen took advantage of the higher tide to launch their lobster cars.
