The accident was reported to RCMP at 2:40 p.m. Three cars collided on the highway near Marshalltown Road and each driver was seriously injured.
One driver was transported to hospital via LifeFlight jet due to the severity of his or her injuries.
It is not yet confirmed whether anyone else was in the cars at the time of the accident.
Corporal Andrew Joyce, a media relations officer with the RCMP, said the extent of the injuries isn’t known at this time.
He also confirmed highway traffic was halted completely due to the severity of the accident.
“The accident was spread out over both lanes, resulting in traffic being completely stopped for about an hour,” he said.
The cause of the crash is still being investigated by the RCMP.
