Ocean Explorations owner and biologist Tom Goodwin saw the whale Tuesday afternoon (July 14) and monitored it about one mile off Brier Island's Northern Lighthouse.

The Campobello Whale Rescue Team  came within inches of success trying to free the juvenile whale last week but had to call the mission off after trying for six hours as darkness approached.

Brier Island Lodge & Welcome Aboard Whale Watching Tours has supplied video footage from the July 9 encounter with the whale, from their Facebook Page. Click here to view.

The mass of ropes wrapped around the whale is evident in the video.
