Justin Michael Earl Arenburg, 19, of Hebron, Yarmouth County, changed his plea to guilty in April and the matter was adjourned to June 26 to allow time for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and for sentencing.

Judge Alan Tufts sentenced Arenburg to four months in custody, to be followed by 20 months of probation. The court granted a DNA order, imposed a 10-year Sex Offender Information Registration Act (SOIRA) order and imposed a 10-year firearm prohibition against Arenburg.

The court has advised that a comment be placed on Arenburg’s Warrant of Committal recommending that he be able to serve his custody at the Yarmouth Correctional Centre.

Arenburg committed the offence in Aylesford between Jan. 3 and 9, 2016. Charges of invitation to sexual touching and communicating with an underage person by means of telecommunication for the purpose of facilitating invitation to sexual touching were dismissed with the Crown offering no evidence.

A publication ban protects the identity of the victim.
