Yarmouth -  The second annual march in support of women’s rights was held in Yarmouth on Saturday, Jan. 20. The event was part of Women's March Canada, a Canadian national movement to unify and empower everyone who stands for human rights, civil rights and social justice for all.

Close to two dozen participants met at Yarmouth town hall at 10 a.m. for a speech before the march by Dana Osmond, who organized the event with Ashley Nickerson and Megan Hatfield. The women and several men, then walked to the Tri-County Women's Centre at 12 Cumberland St. for refreshments and to share their experiences and thoughts on equality and other issues.

Thousands of women around the world took part in the 2018 march, a year after the first such event was held in opposition to new US President Donald Trump to protest laws and policies that make life more difficult for women and girls. Issues include wage parity, LGBTQ+ rights, and the rights of Women of Colour and transgender women.
